John Cratchley This 'string choir' is a lovely way to come at the late lamented Paul Motian's music...it has an ethereal lightness and spacial construction that suits this distinctive approach but don't run away with the impression that this is some kind of exercise in obscure arrangement...Motian's songs are full of spirit and wry humour (just like the man himself).
Some of my most memorable listening experiences were gigs by Motian,Lovano and Frisell...his music needs to be kept in the 'now'and this recording achieves that.
